BLACK HISTORY MONTH 2022
Every October the accomplishments of Black Britons throughout time is marked with the celebration of Black History Month (BHM). Black History Month gives everyone the opportunity to share, celebrate and understand the impact of Black heritage and culture on British society. Black History Month 2022 began on Saturday and the theme this year is “Time for Change: Action Not Words.’
"To get to a better tomorrow, we can’t just focus on the past. The past is in the past. We can acknowledge and learn from it, but to improve the future, we need action, not words. We need to come together around a shared common goal to achieve a better world for everyone" (BHM 2022).
This year, we have been working hard to put on a range of events and activities, in collaboration with Keele University and Keele Students Union for staff and students to learn more about Black history, celebrate culture and work towards creating a more inclusive campus for Black students and staff. You can see a full list of these events here.
