CORONAVIRUS - Update from the University

The VC has released information on the University's plans surrounding COVID-19, in light of the Prime Minister's announcement yesterday afternoon:

"Following the government announcement on the afternoon of 16th March regarding the next stages of the UK’s plans to tackle Covid-19, I am writing to inform you of the University’s response to these issues. As I’m sure you can understand, we are reacting to the news in a short time-frame and so this message intends to update you on our current position, with further updates to follow as we can. The University will remain open, whilst meeting the government requirements to enact appropriate social distancing. This means:

Students should now begin to return home this week. We are also aware that some students may not be able to return home, or may not have another location to go to. Whatever your situation, we are here to support and guide you and would like to reassure you that campus remains open, with reduced operations, but you are able to return home if you would like. For staff, your Director, Dean or Head of School will be in contact with you tomorrow (Tuesday 17th March), to make arrangements, for those who can work from home, to do so.Anyone who is in a household where there are symptoms; a new persistent cough and/or a fever, should self-isolate for a minimum of 14 days.Students and staff who are considered in an ‘at risk’ group should self-isolate for the period advised by the Government.

Our latest advice and guidance continues to be updated on our web-pages here. Further information will follow later this week."

Take care x
